THE HISTORY OF HOME BUILDING

Construction by humans began as far back as 400 BC & there is archaeological evidence of a house being built about 1.8 million years ago in Tanzania. Construction in ancient times involved the use of materials such as timber & animal bones & skins to create a shelter. Building was used to provide protection from the dangers of climate & things like animals. The builder would construct a shelter to protect them from harm. For example, the builder would make sure that wild animals could not enter the shelter & eat them.

Building evolved in the 15th century, as the first architects & engineers such as Palladio came to be. Building in this era involved the use of better materials to construct better buildings. Construction of this era was used to build a variety of structures. The builders of this era constructed buildings for homes, work & worship. For example, the builder would construct churches, temples & stores.

Construction today is a specialised area of work. The building of houses today involves the use of a variety of man-made materials & the luxuries of electricity & plumbing. Building of homes today is used to provide not only a house but a beautiful family home. As a builder of today, we pride ourselves on building quality houses as well as happy homes. For example, if you are a single person we can build you a small home that is easy to maintain & if you have a large family, we can build you a large house so that your whole family is comfortable.

EXPERIENCE & QUALFICATIONS

Since 2007: with 15 years experience in the building industry, you can rest assured that you are in good hands from the beginning to the end of your construction.

Having a good home is not expensive or hard - it is just that having a bad home is cheap & easy.

Do not risk your money on a dishonest builder who promises you maximum results for minimum money. It may end up costing you more because of poor workmanship & inappropriate materials. It will cost you even more if they then leave the job unfinished with your money in hand.

TIPS TO PROTECT YOU, YOUR FAMILY & YOUR MONEY FROM DODGY/SHONKY BUILDERS, CONTRACTORS OR MASONS!

To protect your family, money & yourself, these are some tips on how to avoid a bad builder, contractor or mason.

CONTACT DETAILS: ask the person for their contact details & ask them to show you their ID card - maybe even take a photo of their ID card. Ensure they have a real business address, email address & phone number.

QUALIFICATIONS: ask the person for their CV/resume. Ensure they have documents evidencing their qualifications. This could include building & other trade certificates.

INTERNET: ask the person for their online details so you can look them up. Ensure they have an online presence such as a Facebook page, website & directory listings.

REFERENCES: ask the person for details on their past constructions & references - maybe even talk to some of their clients. Ensure they have pictures of past constructions & have a look at some of their past works.

DOCUMENTS: check any documents the person provides to you. Ensure they have proper & professional documents. This could include a proper business card, letterhead, quotation & agreement/contract.

CONTRACT: ask the person for a proper agreement/contract. Ensure that the agreement/contract covers you & your money. This could include making sure the contract specifies how payments are to be made. Generally, payments should be made as part payments before each stage begins - do not pay anyone the full amount or large sums of money upfront. There should also be an amount allotted to be paid after construction is complete - this amount should not be paid until you are satisfied that all work has been done.

 TIPS ON FINDING A REALLY GOOD BUILDER/CONTRACTOR/MASON

So, to summarise, a real builder/contractor or mason should have the following real & valid things:

  • business address, email address, phone number & ID card;

  • CV/resume with documents evidencing their building qualifications;

  • an online presence, Facebook page & website;

  • details & references of their past building works;

  • legal & professional business cards, letterhead, quotations & agreements/contracts; &

  • of course, it should go without saying, excellent service.

 WE HAVE ALL THESE THINGS & LOOK FORWARD TO BUILDING YOUR DREAM HOUSE.
